         *G.S.R. 218(E).— Whereas the Central Government is satisfied that use of the following drugs is likely to involve certain risks to human beings and whereas safar alternatives to the said drugs are available;

       And whereas the Central Government is satisfied that it is necessary and expedient to prohibit the manufacture, sale and distribution of the said drugs in public interest;

VAT STRUCTURE............

  Dear Members,in Karnataka State Budget 2011-2012,the vat structure is changed.The vat of 13.5% is changed to 14%.
  Members are requested to make arrangement of changing the vat structure in their softwares.This will be effect from 1/4/2011.

LIST OF DRUGS BANNED FOR MARKETING IN INDIA

 

The Government of India vide notifications published in the Gazette of India vide G.S.R. No. 578 (E) dated 23/07/1983 and subsequent amendments, made under Section 26 A of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 has prohibited the manufacture, sale and distribution of the following categories of fixed dose combinations which do not have any therapeutic justification or are likely to involve risk to human beings:

FSSAI, NPPA to frame rules to curb shifting of ingredients from drugs to food supplements

New Delhi, 23 Mar: After keeping the issue 'in process' for over two years, the Health Ministry has now asked the Food Safety and Standards Authority (FSSAI) to frame rules, in consultation with the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), to check the practice of pharma companies changing ingredients of drugs to dodge price control mechanism.

Pharma Gladiator to challenge Madras HC order on nimesulide & PPA in Supreme Court

Mumbai, 21 Mar: The Pharma Gladiator, an NGO working to eradicate the grievances of pharmaceutical traders in the country, will soon move Supreme Court to challenge the recent Madras High Court order in which the high court has allowed the drug companies to liquidate the stocks of nimesulide suspension and Phenylpropanolamine (PPA), which were recently banned by the union health ministry along with some other drugs that were found to make adverse effects on human health. "We think the verdict of Madras HC may save the pharmaceutical houses but it it a great loss for the country if the ailing people will be compelled to have those products even for the next 6 months knowing they are having poisons instead of medicines to get prevented or cured from sickness, disease and illness", said Narendra Jain, chief trustee of Pharma Gladiator (India).

Karnataka drug dept installs NIC software to keep track of manufacture and pharmacy outlets

Bangalore, 18 Mar: National Informatics Centre (NIC), of the Government of India, has installed its software at the Karnataka Drugs Control department which would allow it to keep tabs of manufacture and pharmacy outlets dealing with the drugs. The software which is presently undergoing the operational trials to link the entire state regulatory departments will require another 45-60 days to streamline the process. Karnataka is the third state in the country after Gujarat and Maharashtra to install the NIC software. Although the state drugs control authority has issued two circulars to this effect, warning the manufacturing companies not to manufacture and chemists not to stock and sell any of the banned drugs i.e. Nimesulide, sibutrimine, R sibutrimine, cisapride, decongestant drug Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) and human placenta extracts, it will commence its surprise inspections in a few days to ascertain the extent of compliance of the warning notice, Dr BR Jagashetty, Karnataka drugs controller told this reporter.

Ban on Tegaserod, Gatifloxacine due to side-effects

NEW DELHI, 18 MAR: India on Friday prohibited the manufacturing, sale and distribution of two controversial drugs - Gatifloxacine and Tegaserod - for their side-effects. Earlier Drug Technical Advisory Board's sub-committee on February 17 had decided to ban the drugs and had sent their proposal to the health ministry for final notification

धर्मशाला। प्रतिबंधित कैप्सूल स्पास्मो प्रोक्सीवोन और पैरा प्रोक्सीवोन की खेप के साथ गिरफ्तार नगरोटा बगवां के जितेंद्र उर्फ जतिन को धर्मशाला के स्पेशल जज (सेशन जज) पीएस राणा की अदालत ने एनडीपीएस एक्ट के तहत दस साल की कैद और एक लाख रुपए जुर्माने की सजा सुनाई है।
